The one rule

The driver never operates this app while the car is moving. Use it as a passenger, or mount the phone before you set off and leave it alone until you have stopped. Oregon law prohibits holding or using a mobile electronic device while driving. Traffic law and your own judgment come before anything on this screen.

What this is

A game. It compares your commute over the Marion Street Bridge against imaginary racers: a walker, a kayak, a cheetah, a carousel that never arrives. Their times come from published speeds and routes drawn from OpenStreetMap data. They are estimates for fun, not travel advice, and some are marked as guesses in the app's own data.

Not navigation

Routes illustrate the race only. Do not use them as directions or as permission to enter roads, trails, waterways, or private property. Follow posted signs and restrictions.

Your location

Your position is read by your phone and used in your browser to move your marker. We do not run a server that receives it, and we keep no accounts, no history and no analytics. Two things do leave your phone: the start and destination coordinates are sent to public routing servers (the OSRM demo server and the Valhalla server at openstreetmap.de) to draw the routes, and map tiles are fetched from openstreetmap.org. Those services see your network address and those coordinates under their own policies.

No warranty

The app is provided as is. Routing servers go down, GPS drifts, distances round. We do not promise it will work, be accurate or be available.

Liability

To the extent Oregon law allows, Waybound Strategies LLC is not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from your use of the app, including any that follows from using it while driving against the rule above.

Changes and law

These terms may change; the date above tells you when. Oregon law governs them. Questions go to contact@wayboundstrategies.com, Waybound Strategies LLC, Salem, Oregon.
